January 3, 2017 for both locations: Daring to Care Again
January seems to be the time everyone talks about making new resolutions. Then by the next month, those are forgotten. What has us give up on these resolutions? Why do we wait for a time to start? I mean, if it is important to you and your life, wouldn't you and shouldn't you start the moment you realize it? Why care when everything seems to stay the same. This is a great rousing topic for us to start off the new year with. It will be an exciting conversation, that you will want to be present for. As always, we will have fun and learn a lot about ourselves and life.
Often, we can find ourselves conflicted with thoughts about what we can do. We think one thing and the world seems to tell us something different. Can we trust our thinking? Can we then communicate those thoughts to others so they begin to know us in a different way? This is guaranteed to be a huge discussion as we explore this topic and challenge our thinking about what is possible.
March 6 & 7: Meditation/ Mindfulness/ Spirituality/ Finding Connection
This meeting is all about alternative ways of healing. Come discover new arenas where you can help yourself heal. Finding the power of healing when we can connect to a higher power in the universe. This is going to be an awesome meeing, you don't want to miss.
What is a pet? Who has pets? Bring your pet (nothing exotic like snakes unless in a cage. One pet per person. Must get along with other animals). In this meeting we will share our pets (pictures ok), what they mean to us and why we love them so. If you like animals, this is the one meeting you don't want to miss.
Everyone is an expert as something. Have you ever wanted to stand in front of a group share your knowledge? Wondered what it was like to be a motivational speaker or to deliver a lecture? Is there a pressing message for recovery that you would like to share? This meeting is your turn. Starting in January, you can fill out a form and tell us what you would like to talk on. Several speakers will be chosen and depending upon the number, have about 10 or 15 minutes to share their wisdom. Who knows what you will learn? Come cheer on your peers and learn a variety of things. You are invited to be our guest speaker and cheer on your fellow Prosumers. This will be a great meeting. Don't miss it. Click here for the form.
People have all kind of boundaries, physical, mental and emotional. How do you know where your boundaries are and keep them firm? How do you know where other peoples are and not intrude? An interesting discussion that will have you defining all boundaries.
July 4: Pushing Through all Kinds of Pain to Live Life
We know emotional pain. Many of us also experience physical pain. Then there is the pain of heartache and disappointment. We could let the pain stop us from living life, but the irony is when you push through the pain, start living life, then the pain can stop, at least for a few moments. Also, should we always stop the pain? A serious topic which when learned can leave you living a more productive and fulfilled life.
July 31 & August 1: Basic Wellness/ Nutrition
A frank talk about wellness, nutrition and basic exercise. We know a lot, but we don't do it. We have invited authors of a new book on nutrition and wellness to speak. It is going to be an eye opener and a game changer as you look to bring wellness - in all forms - back into your life.
Let's make some NOISE!! Drumming is one of those activities which is a way of communicating, expressing yourself and bringing a real sense of letting go to those things we hang on to. If you have never participated in a drumming circle, then you are in for a treat. Of all the meetings we have, drumming is my favorite. Don't miss this one!
What is forgiveness? What does it mean? Why is forgiveness and grief tied together. What if I am too angry to forgive? Does forgiveness really heal? A thoughtful discussion on the benefits of forgiveness, techniques on forgiveness and when there is a loss, being able to grieve and mourn the loss. A huge conversation you will not want to miss!
Thanksgiving is in the air and being able to find joy in the simple things, is truly satisfying. Why don't we do this year round? Life becomes so complicated and joy seems to get caught up in all the hype around the holidays. How do we keep in simple and stay true to the joy? Should be a thought provoking meeting where you come away being able to hold on the joy just a tad bit longer.
It's that time of year! We have had a wonderful year and its time to plan for an exciting 2017! Come with ideas on topics you'd like to see at meetings next year. Don't forget to bring your favorite side dish for our potluck and a gift (under $5) for our Silly Santa Gift Exchange. No gift cards or money please.
Both Locations January 2, 2018: Visualization Boards
It works! All kinds of people have used visualization boards to accomplish a myriad of goals and dreams. I even saw a lady on Oprah who visualized her being on the show after visualizing her writing a book. And there she was. A powerful tool to have you realize your dreams. A visualization board helps you to stay focused on where you want to go. A great way to start off the New Year. Bring magazines, scissors and glue as you are able. We will have your boards waiting for you. It is going to be a great start to 2018!
